Maison Charaix is a French patisserie, in Joyeuse in the Ardèche, that is carrying on the tradition of Macarons de Joyeuse, the first macarons brought to France by Catherine de’ Medicis in 1581.
These macarons were the first to be created in France, in 1581, and served at court by Catherine de' Medicis for the wedding of the Duc de Joyeuse.
Today, Maison Charaix continues the heritage of the original macaron, selecting natural ingredients and reproducing the same artisanal techniques to delight gourmets and make this journey possible… back to the origins of the macaron.
The aim of Maison Charaix is to work as a family to keep this unique savoir-faire alive and promote their vision of the macaron: crisp, traditional and simply delicious.
